Mediation Clinic

The Mediation Clinic enables students to acquire the skills of mediators through study, mock exercises, observations and actual practice in supervised settings.

Prerequisites: Lawyering Skills (See Civil Clinic for description)

Mediation and Advanced Negotiation: Through these courses students can learn basic negotiation theory and skills, reflective techniques and problem-solving approaches. Students acquire the basic skills of a neutral mediator and will be able to be certified in the state of Utah as mediators. (3 credits graded, fall or spring)

Placement: 2 credits Pass/Fail, concurrently with courses or following course. spring, summer & fall. Opportunities may include housing, discrimination, family, juvenile offender, small claims, high school conflicts and other simple disputes.
