Participation

Participation is strong. During the Spring 2006 semester 96 placements were filled by student volunteers completing over 950 hours. The graduating Class of 2006 set an all-time record with 32 class members earning their Pro Bono Initiative challenge certificate. Collectively the Class of 2006 donated over 2700 student volunteer hours with six students volunteering over 100 hours each.

It is not required, but all law students are encouraged to perform at least 50 hours of law-related volunteer work before graduation. To qualify, work must be uncompensated, earn no credit, and in the service of the public interest as defined in A.B.A. Model Rule 6.1 (voluntary pro bono publico service).
